Community Outreach

Habitat for Humanity
Our Parish actively supports Habitat in a variety of ways, with parishoners: serving on the board of directors, volunteering building expertise, and occasionally providing food and refreshments at the builds. Contact Chuck Cruikshank.

Episcopal Relief and Development
This ministry allows the congregation to support those in greatest need. In addition to ongoing support, large donations were made for Tsunami and Hurricane Katrina relief. Contributions are collected monthly for farm animals and mosquito nets for ERD.

Angel Food Ministries
Parishoners serve in leadership positions, as well as by helping to process and distribute food orders. Contact Carol Weyer.

Huntingdon Food Bank
Parishoners donate canned goods, which are collected at the church each Sunday. The Youth Sunday School Classes routinely hold can "drives," and parishoners have donated Angel Food Ministries food orders directly to the Food Bank. Parishoners also serve in leadership positions. Contact Ginny Gill.

Seaman's Church Institute
Over the past several years, our dedicated team of knitters have contributed HUNDREDS of scarves, hats, socks and vests to the Institute, which then distributes these to ships. Contact Lois Cruikshank.

Forum of Churches
St. John's participates in community-wide ecumenical services sponsored by the Forum.

Shoebox Ministry
Age-appropriate shoeboxes of small gifts and supplies were donated and wrapped by parishioners for shipment to children in need all over the world. Contact Ginny Gill.

Space and Facility Donations
Church Meeting Space and facilities are donated to the following organizations: Alcoholics Anonymous, Overeaters Anonymous, Girl Scouts, Huntingdon Art League, PRIDE summer recreation, birthday parties, and various scrapbooking events. Contact Tim Reimer for more information.

Office Space is provided with low rent to Huntingdon's United Way organization.

Youth and Young Adults
Parishoners routinely participate in campus ministry events and serve as host families for college students that attend St. John's.
